Three suburban Philadelphia towns are among the best places in America to live, according to a new analysis by Money Magazine. The analysis, released Monday, lists the top 100 "Best Places to Live in America" for 2017.
Two Montgomery County towns, Lower Merion and East Norriton, as well as one Chester County town, West Goshen, were included.
Rankings were derived from more than 70 separate types of data, Money Magazine says, including economic factors, cost of living, education, housing and crime. (You can read the full methodology here.)
Money eliminated any place that had more than double the national crime risk, less than 85 percent of its state’s median household income or a lack of ethnic diversity. The editors noted that choosing where to live is an important decision, "one that influences your life in every way."
The three Philadelphia-area towns were the only Pennsylvania communities on the list. Here is more information about the local communities included:
LOWER MERION (46th)

Situated along the prestigious Main Line in the Philadelphia suburbs, Lower Merion is one of the major inner-ring suburbs of Philadelphia and one of the wealthiest areas in its state. The picturesque township boasts a 97% graduation rate, low crime, and median household income that tops $117,000 a year.
WEST GOSHEN (72nd)
Located in Chester County, West Goshen Township has been on Money Magazine's list in the past. In 2013, West Goshen was in the top 10 best places to live in the country, according to the magazine's analysis. It is part of the West Chester Area School District. Browse homes for sale in West Goshen.
